More than 50 feet of height was achieved by stacking the wooden pallets that were used to construct the bonfire.

Before the traditional festivities of “Eleventh Night,” this building was one of approximately 250 that were erected in loyalist neighborhoods around Northern Ireland. When the flames are first lit, it occurs on the twelfth of July, which is the most important day of the Protestant Loyal Order Parade Season.

The construction of the Antiville fire was very close to being done when the calamity happened. The decision to start the bonfire was put off until the next day, thus it was dismantled on Sunday. On Sunday, a row of floral memorials was established next to the spot where the burnt bonfire had been. These flowers were left by residents. A Liverpool football jersey and the flag of a flute band were affixed to a fence near the spot where the incident took place. A vigil will take place later on Sunday evening, after the sun has set.
