Matt Waletzko spent four years playing for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks as a member of the team. As a true freshman, he participated in nine games and started all five games that were played at left tackle for the last five games of the season. Waletzko got out to a strong start in his sophomore year, starting all six games he played in before sustaining a knee injury that ended his season.  During his junior season at UND, which was cut short and played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic in the United States, he started all seven of UND’s games and was selected to the second team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC). Waletzko was chosen to the first team All-MVFC after starting the first 10 games of his senior season before suffering an injury that forced him to miss the last game of the season.The Dallas Cowboys choose Waletzko to be a part of their roster in the fifth round of the NFL Draft in 2022.   The Cleveland Browns handed Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a draft pick, which the Cowboys had already acquired.
