Motter received his education at Campbell High School and was brought up in the city of Smyrna. According to the Braves, he got his start in the broadcasting business by providing color commentary for the youth football games that his son played in Peachtree City.
While he was officiating a game of youth football, manager Frank Wren overheard him discussing the role and encouraged him to apply for an interview.
“A lifetime Braves fan and Smyrna native, Motter recently reminisced on the opportunity to announce the World Series for the 2021 World Champion Braves: ‘It was a dream come true,'” the Braves noted on their website. “It was a dream come true,” Motter said.
