Memphis Depay’s Birthday, family, and Early life
Memphis Depay was born on February 13, 1994 in the Dutch community of Moordrecht, which is a tiny town in the province of Zuid-Holland. Memphis Depay now plays for the Manchester United football club. His mother, Cora Schensema, was from the Netherlands, while his father, Dennis Depay, was the first generation of Ghanaians to immigrate to the United States. He was the sole kid of his mother and father.
Cora Schensema was compelled to go to live with her parents, Kees and Jans Schensema, when Memphis’s biological father left the family when Memphis was four years old. Soon after Kees became Memphis’ coach, the school’s interest in football increased dramatically.
When he was seven years old, he became a member of the local football club, vv Moordrecht. By that time, he had also begun rapping on the street, but when his coach asked him to pick between rapping and football, he unwillingly gave up rapping in order to focus on football. By the time he was eight years old, he had developed to the point that Sparta Rotterdam was interested in signing him.
He and his mother moved in with a neighbor when he was nine years old. His mother had developed feelings for the neighbor, so she decided to move in with him. However, the dad had several children, and all of them often beat him up to the point that he feared returning home from school and would frequently sob while sitting beneath his desk.
Memphis Depay’s mental health had already begun to deteriorate by the time he and his mother moved back in with his grandpa. He refused to discuss his suffering and instead engaged in physical conflict with his instructors and coaches in an effort to inflict the same level of suffering on others that he had experienced. By the time he was twelve, he had already begun drinking.
In spite of the challenges he faced, he continued to perform very well on the field, drawing the interest of many notable football teams. In 2006, on the recommendation of his grandpa, he signed with PSV Eindhoven. However, in order to fulfill the requirements of the program, he was compelled to relocate and live with a local host family named the Heijbloms.
At the same time as he was showing off his athletic prowess at PVS Eindhoven, he was also continuing his pattern of poor behavior off the field. In spite of this, he quickly started to change his behaviors as a result of the guidance of his mentor, Joost Lenders, his manager, Phillip Cocu, and his hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Heijblom.
After being kicked out of a number of schools for his disruptive conduct, he gave up on his education altogether in 2009 and began competing for the Netherlands U-16 national team the same year. On the other hand, the passing of his grandpa in 2009 left him with an additional vacuum. However, by that time he had the sport of football to support him.
