Most of us have already become accustomed to how quickly technology continues to evolve. Whether referring to the latest iteration of the smartphone, or the role that artificial intelligence has begun to play, it seems as if the world is becoming more advanced than ever before. However, there are plenty of other lesser-known applications having just as much of an impact. We will examine four innovative approaches below to better appreciate what the future may have in store.

Leading an Active Lifestyle

It is a well-known fact that professional athletes (such as basketball players) place their bodies under a significant amount of physical strain. However, did you know that some of the ankle braces basketball players now employ are at least partially the results of digital imaging software? Technology now allows doctors to create tailor-made support systems based on specific injuries, and this decidedly modular approach enables them to address patients on a case-by-case basis.

Artificial Romance?

A great deal has been said about the latest generation of artificial intelligence algorithms. Sometimes referred to collectively as “bots”, these systems are already transforming the digital landscape. Some industry analysts feel that the latest trend is associated with AI bots capable of providing romantic interactions with users. The AI companion known as “Replika” is a prime example. Although it is not entirely certain how far these programs will be able to mimic real-world interactions, there is little doubt that their presence is already beginning to be felt.

Smart Textiles

This next example represents yet another way in which cutting-edge technology has begun to surpass its traditional boundaries. A type of “smart” fabric will soon be able to provide instantaneous digital feedback to the user. Some examples of this information include:

  • Ambient environmental conditions
  • Location
  • Health statistics (such as body temperature, and heart rate)
  • Muscle activity

  • It is also thought that these
smart textiles may be able to increase workplace safety; a benefit that will certainly offer many practical solutions.

    Virtual Assistants

We are all familiar with the expression “working smart as opposed to hard”. However, this maxim may soon be taken to an entirely new level thanks to the advent of AI assistants. Current examples include Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa. The main intention here is to provide the end user with more streamlined solutions when handling day-to-day tasks. These planners can save a significant amount of time, and they could transform the modern workplace. Another interesting quality of such systems is that they can be customised around the needs of the individual in question. This modular nature provides a flexible edge, and it also signifies that specific functions may be added when needed.

Note that these are only four examples of how technology is having a massive impact on the world around us. The only question remaining involves how far such applications will evolve. Either way, it is impossible to deny the fact that life is much easier thanks to their presence.
